4 BEHIND A TAILTRICK DEER DECOY!
there could be a hunter that you are unaware of, who mistakes the
lifelike TailTRICK Deer Decoy for a real deer and shoots it. If you are in front
of or behind the decoy, you may be shot by accident.
, deer approaching the deer decoy will be focused on it. If you are in
front of or behind the deer decoy, the approaching deer will see you move,
get spooked and run off.
When you are ready to pack up your deer decoy:
ALWAYS approach the TailTRICK deer decoy from its thin side. Never
approach the decoy from its front side or flat side.
ALWAYS approach the TailTRICK deer decoy with the orange safety carry
bag in your hand at arms length in front of you.
ALWAYS lay the orange carry bag over the top of the TailTRICK deer decoy
so that it covers both broad sides of the deer decoy. Then, lift the decoy off of
the ground stakes and lay it flat on the ground for pack up purposes.
NEVER use the TailTRICK Deer Decoy or Grazing Deer Decoy to push the
Ground Stakes into the ground as this will damage the decoy.
ALWAYS push the Ground Stakes into the ground BY HAND.
When transporting your TailTRICK, keep the Ground Stakes in their Orange
Nylon Webbing Sleeve to keep them from poking a hole in the orange safety
carry bag.
Once the battery is
installed in the battery compartment, so that the motor
begins to run and the Tail Actuator rotates. This will turn the motor on. There
is no on/off switch.
and act as a rain shield for the battery in
case of rain. The Tail Motor should not be used in the rain.
One battery provides many hours of service if not left out in the cold when not
in use. A battery that is low on charge will run slower and slow the lifting
action of the tail.
NEVER pull the motor out of the decoy body by pulling on the Tail Actuator or
motor shaft.
ALWAYS . The motor will dislodge
and come out easily and effortlessly.
If after repeated use the Tail Motor does not fit as tightly as needed in order
to stay in place, put a piece of duck tape on the motor housing in order to
make it fit tighter.
The 5 inch long black plastic piece with threads on each end is the .
The Tail Stud mounts in the decoy above the motor cavity and holds the tail
in place. The Tail Stud also aligns the Tail Block of the Tail with the Tail
Actuator so that the Tail moves properly and consistently.
The Tail Stud hole is just above the motor cavity. It will be a little tight
the first few times you put it in.
The two are orange colored so that if you drop one on the
ground, you can find it. The Wing Nuts also were made with tight threads so
that they will not vibrate off during use.
and is
used to hold the Tail Stud in the decoy body.
.
Your decoy came with two sets of wing nuts. One set is for spares. Keep
them in the plastic bag they came in and you will be able to keep up with
them.
The motor and hardware for your decoy came in a bubble wrap bag. . When packing up
your deer decoy after use, always screw the wing nuts onto the Tail Stud
before inserting it into the bubble wrap bag. Place the motor and hardware in
the bubble wrap bag and then put the bubble wrap bag in your day pack or
inside the orange safety carry bag.
ALWAYS place the TailTRICK Deer Decoy in an open area so that deer see
it from a distance. Deer have a personal space boundary and don’t like to
suddenly come up on another deer too close and unawares. Deer decoys are
not for ambush purposes. The open area could be on one side of a food plot
or in the middle of the open woods. The purposes of a deer decoy are to
attract a deer’s attention, lure them closer to the deer decoy AND to your
shooting position so that you can make a shot.
ALWAYS place the TailTRICK Deer Decoy’s TAIL facing the direction from
which you hope to attract deer. It’s the wagging tail which gets the attention of
deer at a distance.
ALWAYS place the TailTRICK Deer Decoy’s TAIL facing downwind so that
the scent you put out will create a scent trail that leads straight to the wagging
tail on your deer decoy.
Remember that most bucks like to get downwind of another deer so that they
can identify the deer and determine if they know them or not. Bucks can be
attracted by using doe pee, doe in estrus scent or by using dominant buck
scent with the decoy. Most bucks will respond to the doe pee and estrus
scent. Dominant bucks will want to meet the owner of the dominant scent that
you put out.
, just near it. Place scent in a
scent dispenser or on cotton balls near the deer decoy but not on it. Scent
that is put on the deer decoy will sour and put off an unnatural odor that will
spoil your decoy and your hunt.
Plan on making your shot by the time the deer approaches the personal
space boundary of the deer decoy. All deer have a personal space boundary
which is the distance that they keep between themselves and deer they don’t
know or socialize with. This distance is about 50 FEET. It’s very close. Deer
responding to the decoy begin to circle the decoy as they approach this
personal space boundary. Plan on making your shot by the time the deer gets
to this boundary.
Take a shooting position where you can make a shot before or as a deer
approaches the personal space boundary of the deer decoy.
The purpose of a deer decoy is to attract deer. It’s the hunter’s job and
responsibility to position himself for a shot before or as the deer reaches the
decoy.
NEVER TAKE A SHOOTING POSITION DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF OR
BEHIND A TAILTRICK DEER DECOY! Always take a shooting and hunting
position that is off to the thin side of the decoy and at least 50 feet away.
